The goal of the Master's Degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) is to prepare future public health leaders to investigate disease determinants and risks, improve healthcare quality and delivery, develop, implement and evaluate strategies for dealing with a wide range of public health situations.
The School of Public Health's multidisciplinary approach encompasses knowledge and expertise of faculty and students across many academic disciplines including biological, quantitative, and social sciences, as well as fostering key collaborations with other academic institutions in Israel and abroad, hospitals, clinics, HMOs, and several world-renowned research institutes.

Admission and Program Requirements
Ability to read, write, and speak Hebrew fluently.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade average of 80 (B), as well as experience and/or interest in Public Health. This is a threshold condition for applying and does not guarantee acceptance.
At its discretion, the Admissions Committee may invite candidates for an interview.
Admission priority will be given to applicants with experience and background in public health.
Students with no background in medical or life sciences will be required to complete courses during their first year of study. The decision regarding the completion courses will be made by the admissions committee.
All students are required to complete a research thesis or project within three years from the start of the program.
Thesis Track: Students who decide to write a thesis are required to complete 29 credits of coursework. The thesis proposal must be submitted by the beginning of the third semester.
Project Track: Students who chose to do a project must complete 39 credits of coursework, project proposal, and final project.

Master of Disaster Management, M.DM. (0149)

The emergency and disaster management department at the school of public health, offers the degree studies in two tracks – in the Hebrew language (0149) and in the English language (0150).

Each year, emergency and disaster situations claim a heavy toll in human lives and economic loss. Those responsible for preparing for and managing natural and man-made disasters seek to identify efficient and professional strategies for responding to these adversities. In addition, there is a great need to improve the communication and coordination between the various organizations tasked with managing these disasters. For these and other reasons, there is an ever-growing demand for qualified professionals in emergency and disaster management.
The Multidisciplinary Degree in Disaster Management was established at Tel Aviv University with the aim of providing the program's graduates with the knowledge and skills required to effectively deal with emergencies and disasters and their consequences.
The program, which spans over one academic year, covers both theoretical and practical aspects of emergency and disaster management. It creates and encourages unique collaboration between academic experts and field professionals, and aims to provide a broad and comprehensive vision and understanding of disaster management. To this end, the program adopts an interdisciplinary approach regarding the training, provision of knowledge and topic presentation and discussion throughout the courses.
The curriculum combines both relevant knowledge and research skills, in conjunction with the practical and operative experience of the faculty, and the students themselves. It includes, but not limited to, contents in the following fields: medical management, integrated planning and intervention, mental health aspects of emergency and disaster situations, operational, technological and logistical aspects of emergencies, ethics in disaster situations and humanitarian aid.
The program has three major goals:

To impart the academic knowledge and the operational and theoretical analysis skills required when dealing with emergency and disaster situations.

To develop new, innovative and critical ways of thinking when examining plans of intervention for dealing with emergency and disaster situations, and the ability to put these plans into action

To provide the knowledge and hands-on experience to develop the skills needed for dealing with different types of emergencies and disasters, using tools and skills for capacity building, management, organization, evaluation, and analysis of these situations.
Curriculum

The duration of studies is one continuous calendar year (three semesters, which include two regular semesters and an intensive summer semester). Take advantage of an optional thesis track (additional academic year).
The program includes a light search and rescue training, visits to drills and emergency organizations, lectures by leading experts in the field from emergency organizations, government offices, municipal authorities and others.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or master’s degree) from an accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or 80 on a 100-point scale.

A final interview will be conducted by the Acceptance Committee of the Program following submission of a completed application (documents and application fee).

Applicants with any Bachelor's Degree from a recognized institution are eligible for application; however, professional backgrounds in emergency related fields will be prioritized.

Exercise Physiology Master of Science (0148)
The Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of exercise physiology directed to various parts of the population. As such, courses will focus on relevant basic, applied, rehabilitation, and health promotion issues.
Specific admission and program requirements:
· Applicants without a health-related background will be required to complete pre-requisite courses as required by the School of Public Health.
· Students without a background in physical education or personal training will be required to complete a "gym instructor" course while completing their graduate studies.
· The degree can be accomplished with or without a thesis. In both study paths, students are required to complete the faculty and core courses of the program and participate in at least 25 seminar presentations during the two-year program.
· In the study option that include a thesis, students are required to complete 28 course-credits. Students are also entitled to submit a thesis proposal within the first semester of the second year.
· In the study path without a thesis, students are required to complete 36 course-credits and to submit a final short scientific project.
Exercise Physiology course curriculum
· Prerequisite courses as required according to the student’s academic background (not included in the credits required to graduate)
· Faculty required courses: Biostatistics A (Basic), Scientific Writing, Ethics of Medical Research
· Required core courses: Pediatric Exercise Physiology, Exercise and Public Health, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology in the Elderly, Training Methods and Exercise Physiology of Elite Athletes, Research Methods and Assessment in Exercise Physiology.
· Elective courses: Exercise for Cardiac Rehabilitation, Physiology in Extreme Environments, Physical Training and Rehabilitation in Chronic Lung Disease, Cardiovascular System and Exercise, Hormonal System and Exercise, The Genetic Basis of Athletic Performance, Gender Differences in Physiological, Health, and Functional Variables in Exercise Performance, Human Anaerobic Ability, Advanced Aspects in Resistance Training, Sports Nutrition, and other courses provided by the School of Graduate studies and the School of Public Health.

About the department of Occupational health (MOccH)
Occupational health is a professional field that covers all aspects of workplace health and safety. Through environmental health, occupational hygiene, ergonomics, occupational therapy and occupational medicine, Occupational health experts seek to ensure a healthy and safe work environment as well as employee wellness, in various workplaces settings.
The aim of the Master of Occupational Health (MOccH) program at TAU is to prepare students to practice as advanced professionals and leaders in preventing and treating work-related hazards injuries and illnesses.
The program is intended for healthcare professionals or individuals who wish to complete specialized training in the field of occupational and environmental health sciences.
Graduates of the MOccH program will acquire knowledge training and skills in occupational medicine, occupational hygiene and safety, environmental health, workplace hazards detection, legal and regulatory compliance, safety wellness and health promotion in the workplace.
Career opportunities in Occupational Health include employment in managerial, consulting and research positions in healthcare organizations, research centers, hospitals, laboratories and higher education institutions, as well as commercial and industrial organizations in the privet or public sector, and in regulatory and other governmental organizations.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade average of 80 points, as well as experience and/or interest in Public and occupational Health.

Preferred disciplines are: natural sciences, exact science, health care, behavioral sciences, environmental sciences, low or nutrition. Applicants with Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or humanities will be required to fulfill complementary courses.
Program Requirements:
We offer a two-year program:
Students can choose between three specializations, yet they can take courses from all three: Occupational medicine for physicians, occupational and industrial hygiene, or work behavior and health.
All students are required to complete a research thesis or project:
Thesis Track: Students who decide to write a thesis are required to complete 36 credits of coursework and present an oral defense.
Project Track: Students who chose this track must complete 44 credits of coursework.
